tribeca residence: renovation

Tribeca NYC | 7,500 SF multi-story loft

Role | Architectural Designer / Project Manager from Concept Design through Design Development / CDs

Architect | Alexander Compagno Architecture + Design

Proposed a transformation of the 6,200 SF multi-story loft residence into a 4-bed 5.5-bath residence with a private elevator. This included replacing the roof with with a large skylight, reconfiguring the interior stair, and using glass railings and treads to maximize natural light to all the levels. The skylight would be fitted with electrified dynamic glass that automatically responds to sunlight by changing the tint level of the glass as shading. Modifications to this landmarked façade were proposed to complement changes to the interior space to create a balance between privacy and maximizing natural light.

In a separate 1,300 SF ancillary space (on a lower floor) a sanctuary was designed to be reminiscent of a solarium. Reclaimed architectural antiques were incorporated into the design to create an eclectic yet cohesive retreat.
